Just about ME

Pssst....

I've lost 10 lbs. Whoa!

Day 6 UH OH DAY

Today, Ainsley and I are sick and throwing up so staying on target with eating was only for John and Aidan... the non sick ones.

They had...

Breakfast
J- wheat cereal
A- oatmeal (I am NOT making oatmeal next week)

Lunch
A- Peanut roll ups with fruit preserves
J- Leftover quiche and apples

Dinner
They both had tuna sandwiches and peaches. Whole wheat bread, wild caught tuna, and olive oil instead of mayo

Ainsley who hasn't been able to keep much down had a piece of white bread toast and bananas
I've had only a pb and fruit roll up and when running out with my Mom... I got a sweet tea from Mcdonald's. So.......

I CHEATED.... badly!!!

But guess what?  After the first blissful mouthfuls.... the sugar made me sick and I stopped drinking it because I was too nauseated. Karma....   I deserved it.

Day 4

Breakfast

Leftover oatmeal for kids
Nothing for me

Lunch
Crackers and cheese (I added tiny bits of fresh spinach lettuce to my crackers. I think I found a new favorite snack)
Strawberries and blueberries

Snack
Larabars  (yeah we need to come up with something else)

Dinner

Dinner was a bust. I didn't have all the ingredients for any of the meals so John went to Zaxbys and bought everyone salads. So we cheated but at least it was a salad.

Lesson learned:  better have stuff in the house or you end up in a jam

Day 2

Breakfast

Plain yogurt with fresh fruit:   I put together the yogurt, strawberries and blueberries and blended them together. Well that a mistake. It liquefied it. So, I took the whole rest of the container and poured the liquid into it. It still made a soupy mess a bit but not as bad as before. (yes I get now that I need to fold the fruit in)The girls did eat it. Aidan was more OK with it than Ainsley. I didn't particularly take to it so I took my portion, added milk and made it a smoothie. It was better but I didn't finish it and wasted it.

Honey Whole Wheat toast with butter and fruit preserves.

Side of strawberries

Lunch

Leftover Chicken and sweet potatoes

Snack

Larabars

Dinner

John cooked fish, brown rice and asparagus. It was OK. Everyone just ate a little. I don't think anyone was enamored over it.

Day One Doings and Disasters

We were originally planning to start tomorrow but realized that would have us finishing the day we travel to NC... didn't think that was a smart idea.. it would be next to impossible to follow the rules there... so we started a day earlier. It kindof threw things off because it was unplanned. (I was also "upset" because I had meant to indulge myself with sweet tea the day before and now I missed out on my last hurrah sweet tea day. )  Anyway, John and I had to go to the hospital to see his Grandmother and by the time we were done, it was late and I was starving. We drove past a Fresh Market (we didn't know was there) so decided to poke our heads in. I had a mini breakdown.

I had barely eaten and all sorts of thought were going through my head...

"This is so stupid. We can't starve ourselves just to do a challenge"

"Common sense has to show up sometime"

"I'm starving and surrounded by food but because of silly rules I'm not actually allowed to eat!"

I felt .. heavy... this was going to be too much....

"I'm going to have to COOK every night.. even when its late!"

I was sooo hungry and temptation to eat one of their deli sandwiches was so extreme I almost gave in and quit it for the day. John would have let me too and was even encouraging it "We can start all over tomorrow."

"That is NOT what I need to hear!"    Men!

So after I calmed myself down I picked up 2 large split breasts from a local farm.. we drove home and I cooked and I'm proud to say... we made it through day 1!

After supper, I spent the night cleaning and rearranging our pantry shelves. All of the NONO items are on the top shelf for the other people in our house to use.

Breakfast

Honey Whole Wheat toast with butter and fruit preserves
Bananas

I enjoyed the 4th of a piece of toast that I had but I left it out while doing something with Aivry and when I came back a fly had found it. I never had the time to make more.

Lunch

Homemade Oatmeal with raisins, bananas and maple syrup:  Well... it was edible and not horrific but NOT super yummy. Real oatmeal is very.... oaty. LOL  So, none of us overate. I only chose oatmeal because I really couldn't figure out anything else to fix.

Snack

Larabars: Can I say HAPPILY SURPRISED!  YUM! Publix has them for $1. We're going to be filling the snack basket full of them. (although the calorie count is CRAZY... I know we're not supposed to be looking at calories but still)

Dinner

Smothered chicken with sweet potatoes:   A HIT!  I had read various recipes on stuff people do to make this and then made up my own. So far I've done this with everything. Not once have I followed an actual recipe. Really... its working out. Once you see basic groupings of food then you know... "yeah that should be OK together"  AnyWAY... I sauteed butter, olive oil, spinach, mushrooms, sharp cheddar cheese and parmesan cheese together while the FRESH chicken was cooking in the oven. I only put some basic seasonings on the chicken. After the topping was done.. I spread everything onto the chicken and baked for a bit longer. Oh Gosh... so delicious!

Bursting

I feel like a slug... bloated, slow, my head is cloudy and everything feels... ??....  heavy

The last two days I've seriously indulged... fast yucky food... processed mac and cheese, sweet tea, Mcdonald's cookies, fries and a double cheeseburger.

I feel SICK!

Is this in my head? How could this food affect me so? It isn't as if I have changed my eating for two months or cut out ALL sugar and processed yet... I've just made some changes and say no to the worse things.

Well.... I gave myself permission to say YES and now I'm wishing I hadn't.

I do NOT like this feeling and all I can think about is HOLY COW.. how many hours, years have been wasted of my life of me feeling slow and tired because of what food I put in my mouth?

**********

Aidan has lately been acting really crazy. She's going days without bad food and then, for my Mother's birthday, she had cake and she's had cookies etc and now she is acting spastic.
I think diet especially affects her.
